That's why I changed my blog and made some separated pages.
The page you're know looking at is my page with all my assigments that I already did this year.
I hope you will have fun and enjoy reading my blog!!!!!

Vincent van Gogh assignments

I had to different assignments about van Gogh.
  • I had to paint a painting from Vincent van Gogh.
  • I had to write a review about this painting.
  • And finally I made together with a few other friends a little movie about Vincent van Gogh.
For the first assignment painting a painting from Vincent van Gogh.
You first have to choose a painting painted by van Gogh.
I chose View of vessenots near Auvers.
When you have a painting, observe it well.
Have you taken a good look at the painting?
Than start sketching the paper on an A3 paper.
Have you sketched everything?
Take now paint and paint the painting, but use little brush strokes when you're painting.
Let the paint dry and finish the painting further if you needed to give something a finishing touch.
Now you have painted a painting from Vincent van Gogh.
Are you curious how my painting looks?
Here is a picture of it:

Do you like it?

I had a 7.5 for this painting.
I am really proud of myself, because I am not really good in painting :)

I also had to write a review about this painting.
This is my review:
Vincent van Gogh, View of Vessenots near Auvers, created in May 1890
Vincent van Gogh is born on 30 March 1853 and died on 29 July 1890. In 1873 van Gogh went to Paris and then to London, where he became a teacher. In 1876 he went to Amsterdam and in 1877 he went to Belgium, where he in 1878 became a laymen preacher, here he started to make charcoal sketches. In 1880 van Gogh took up art lessons again, but stopped, because he had a different style than his teacher. In the winter from 1885-1886 van Gogh went to the art academy and discovered Japanese art. In 1886 van Gogh went to Paris to help his brother, here he came in contact with impressionism. Vincent van Gogh mixed this with his own style and started to use more colour and dots, but van Gogh is more a post-impressionist. In 1888 Vincent van Gogh stopped living with his brothers and painted a yellow house and sunflowers. After this he changed his dots for small lines. After 1889 van Gogh went to a clinic and changed his small lines into curves. In 1890 he left the clinic and went to live in Auvers. On 17 July 1890 Vincent van Gogh shot himself with a gun in his chest, two days later he died.
Vincent van Gogh, however never was member of a group. His style was post-impressionism. During the time Vincent van Gogh painted colours started to be allowed in fashion.

This painting is probably a view out of a window.  At the right side of the painting there is a tree standing in a little stream. The first part of the painting is a field with yellow flowers. Next to the field with yellow flowers is a green field probably with green crops. Above the field with yellow flowers and green field is a small stroke of grass. Then there are some white houses with trees in front of the houses. At the back of the houses, there are some hills with crop fields and a blue sky. The sky at the left top of the painting  consists of some white clouds.
The painting has a lot of different colours and different little brush strokes, which make it likely that this is post-impressionism.
Vincent van Gogh used different colours of fine oil for this painting, he used a brush to paint small brush strokes and mixed the colours with each other for a different colour.

Van Gogh painted this painting in a realistic way, because you can clearly see what things are, it is just like you are watching a real landscape. Vincent van Gogh suggested space in this painting by using linear perspective and by using aerial perspective, because he used lighter colours at the foreground of the painting and darker colours at the background of the painting. In this picture I have drawn the lines I think Vincent van Gogh drew to paint this painting. There also is some direction of movement in this painting, because at the bottom of this painting you see some longer plants which are painted to the side, because they are being moved by the wind.

My opinion about View of Vessenots near Auvers:
I think the good thing about the painting is that he used nice linear perspective and that he made this painting in spring, because I think this landscape is the most beautiful in spring, the colours look well together as well.
I don’t think that there are bad things in the painting.
I think Vincent van Gogh did a good job, because it is very well painted with the small brush strokes and colours, he also chose a really nice landscape to paint.
I think other people should see this work of art, because it’s a beautiful painting.
I think other people would more or less say the same thing about the painting, because most people have the same opinion about pieces of art from Vincent van Gogh.
I would give Vincent van Gogh a 9, because it is really nice made, but it’s not very special.
If I would own this work I would hang this painting up in my living room, so the walls aren’t that boring anymore and that everyone who comes to visit can see it.
I think worth remembering about this painting is the colours and the landscape.

And finally I and some friends made a little movie about Vincent van Gogh.
I hope you enjoy watching this film!!!

We also had to make a story bord.
This are some pictures from the strory bord we have made!!

Cathedral Project

This assignment/project is about gothic cathedrals.
You can do this assignment in a group or alone.
If you are in a group you need to divide the tasks.
If you do this alone, you can do one of the tasks or more.
The tasks are:
  • draw the map of your cathedral
  • draw the outside decorations
  • draw the inside decorations and furniture
  • draw the porch
If you don't know what I am talking about the porch is a beautiful decorated entrance.
This is a picture of a porch:

Have you decided what you are going to do?
Now go and find some examples of what you need to do for your task.
When you have all finished your task you need to think of a way to put your work together.
Our group did this by making a real cathedral from paper where you could look in.
But you can also think of another way.
My task was to draw a map of the cathedral.
I have first drawn the map and than drawn the lines over with black fineliner.
Want to see it?
Here it is:

I hope you think it's nice.
In our group we had to give each other marks and they gave me an 8.
My teacher was okay with this and me too and i think it's really nice.

We putted everything together by making a real cathedral.
Here are some pictures from the cathedral.
We actually decorated the in and outside of the cathedral.

stained glass window

Do you know what a stained glass window is?
I know!
If you don't here are some examples.

I think you now know what stained glass windows are.
You can also find examples yourself, for example in cathedrals.
There are some really nice ones in Canterbury Cathedral!!

You also need to know what tracery is.
This is tracery:

Now you know what tracery and stained glass windows are.
The examples that I showed you are all gothic architecture.
You are now going to draw your own stained glass window and tracery on a separated paper, both in gothic architecture.
If you have drawn a stained glass window erase the pencil lines and colour it in with colour pencils.
When you have done this draw tracery for the stained glass window on another paper.
If you have done this you can erase the pencil lines and draw them with a black fineliner.
I hope you now have a nice result!
Do you want to see my stained glass window and tracery?
Here it is:
This is the tracery:

This is the stained glass window.

What you need to do this:
  • two A4 papers
  • pencil
  • colour pencils
  • ( pair of compasses )
  • eraser
  • black fineliner

I got a 7.5 for this assignment.
I think I did a good job and am very happy with my mark.

This time it is a Skateboard in GRAFFITI style!!!! :)
For this you all need to know what graffiti is, but for the ones that don't know...
... here are some examplesss:

Now you all know what graffiti is.
You can now start drawing graffiti in your own graffiti style for on a skateboard.
Did you draw something you're happy with?
You can now colour in your skateboard.
Try not to have only lettres, draw for example a background.
Don't forget to erase the pencil lines!

It will be easier for you if you know what you can use best!
  • take an A3 paper and cut it through the middle, so you have two small, long papers
  • pencil
  • something to colour in your drawing
  • I also used a black fineliner to get the lettres more on the foreground
This is the final result of my graffiti skateboard!

I got a 7 for it and I am very happy with the final result! :P
